While it Lasts

There have been so many days since we left Florida in January that I've wondered, "Will I ever be too hot again?"

Today as I was on my usual lunchtime walk around Belgrade (this time joined by Jorge), I had a moment where I thought, "gosh it's hot out!" I've never appreciated seasonality quite so much. While everyone back in Florida was complaining about 95F last week we literally got 6 inches of snow... at the end of May. This first day of mid 70's is absolutely glorious, and I can honestly say I've never been so thankful to sweat, and feel the tips of my ears burn on an afternoon walk.

The weather here is a constant reminder that we are not in control, that everything is temporary; be it snow in May or mid 70's on a Tuesday afternoon. Eventually, the long days will give way to darkness. We'll cozy up and fall into patterns of short, cold days fueled by an endless fire in the wood burning stove. Today though, we celebrate the sun, the warmth, and ways to spend time just soaking up those sweet sweet UV rays.
